Janneane Madill, Founder & President

Since 2014, Janneane Madill has dedicated her life to The Alice Sanctuary, both as an organization and a safe haven for rescued, abandoned, and surrendered farmed animals.

With a background in social work, she understands that empathy and compassion are elevated by fostering connections through storytelling and interactions with farmed animals who are free to live their lives.

Janneane remains deeply passionate and dedicated to the success, longevity, and sustainability of the sanctuary.

Ali Mundy, Vice President

Ali Mundy is a dedicated educator and compassionate advocate whose work bridges the worlds of humane education and animal welfare.

Ali started as a volunteer in 2023, and now, as Vice President, she is driven by a vision of a kinder, more compassionate future. She is committed to empowering the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and empathy needed to advocate for farmed animals and to build a more humane world for all beings.

Ali leads the sanctuary’s Volunteer Program, Humane Education Program, and Family Day Tours, where she engages visitors of all ages in interactive, educational experiences that foster kindness and respect for animals. Through these programs, she encourages thoughtful conversations about veganism, animal advocacy, and the power of everyday choices.

Angie Kuemper, Treasurer

As a dedicated vegan and lifelong animal advocate, Angie Kuemper is passionate about creating a more humane world for all beings.

Angie is an accountant by profession and brings her financial expertise to The Alice Sanctuary in her role as Treasurer, helping ensure its long-term sustainability and responsible stewardship.

A proud mom of triplets, she balances family life with her commitment to ethical living and animal welfare, leading by example both at home and in the community.  

Laine Fedrau, Secretary

Laine Fedrau is a Calgary-based restaurateur and passionate advocate for animals and plant-based living.

As co-owner of Vegan Street and The Attic Bar & Stage in Inglewood, she has built spaces that bring people together through food, arts, and inclusive community events. Laine is deeply committed to using business as a platform for positive change, regularly supporting local nonprofits and animal advocacy initiatives.

As a board member of The Alice Sanctuary, she is proud to contribute her experience in hospitality, fundraising, and community engagement to help advance the sanctuary’s mission of compassion, education, and care for rescued farmed animals.

Lindsay Mate

Lindsay Mate is a longtime volunteer, Tour coordinator, and board member at The Alice Sanctuary.

She works as a logistics manager at a local produce company. With her industry contacts, she helps keep fruit from landfills and delivers fruit weekly to the residents at TAS.

She loves spending her Saturdays with the amazing community and animals at the sanctuary.

Marlies Zimmer

Marlies Zimmer is a passionate animal advocate and proud volunteer at The Alice Sanctuary.

Trained as a web-developer, Marlies brings her tech skills to the table to help elevate TAS’ digital presence and analyze data to optimize public engagement.

She uses her positive attitude and passion for problem-solving to help tackle big-picture challenges and is excited to help TAS achieve its upcoming goals.
